Well known games publisher 505 Games have today confirmed a publishing agreement with indie development studio Psyonix which will see their top selling title Rocket League released in physical form nationwide, landing in stores as Rocket League: Collectors Edition.
Rocket League recently followed it’s huge success on Steam and Playstation 4 with an Xbox One digital release earlier this month. With it’s easy to grasp controls and insanely addictive combination of football and high speed racers it has again captured the hearts of it’s latest audience, and the interest continues to grow with upcoming content such as the Batmobile drawing in more followers.
With an established player base of over 12 million already in the bag, Psyonix would be forgiven for leaving at that – but no! The publishing agreement with 505 Games will see Rocket League: Collections Edition hit shelves for both Xbox One and Playstation 4, with both including all three major DLC packs added so far – Supersonic Fury, Revenge of the Battle-Cars and Chaos Run. There will also be retail-exclusive bonuses, which as yet have not been detailed.
Ian Howe, President of 505 Games said, “We are honoured and excited to help Psyonix bring Rocket League: Collector’s Edition to a whole new audience. As big as Rocket League has become, both 505 Games and Psyonix believe that there is still a significant untapped segment of the gaming audience who become aware of products through physical retail.”
Dave Hagewood, CEO and Studio Director of Psyonix said, “505 Games are a proven entity in taking digital brands like Terraria and PAYDAY, and breaking them out through their long-established retail partnerships and on-the-ground expertise to a whole new consumer-base worldwide.”
Rocket League: Collector’s Edition will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation®4 at participating retailers in Q3 2016.
