According to the Chief Financial Officer at Mad Catz, David McKeon, approximately 60 million current-gen console units have now been sold between Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s Playstation 4.
The exact numbers will remain unknown following Microsoft’s decision to no longer announce sales of the Xbox One, feeling it to be unproductive on their part. The last sales figures released by Microsoft came back in 2014 when they revealed 10 million Xbox One’s had been sold.
How this 60 million units splits between two also remains unknown. However just last month, Sony confirmed that the PS4 had sold 35.9 million units – suggesting that in terms of direct sales, the Xbox One is still some way behind, although the gap has closed dramatically of late.
