Infinity Ward announce a new Call of Duty title for 2016

It’s an announcement that to be honest followers of the Call of Duty franchise have been expecting some time this year – but perhaps it’s come a little earlier than many will have expected. Infinity Ward have revealed that a new Call of Duty, from them, will land this year.

Their last outing under the Call of Duty umbrella came back in 2013 with the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts, released on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and a host of other platforms that we really don’t give a crap about, too. Here’s the announcement, made on their official Twitter account last night.

While Call of Duty: Black Ops III from Treyarch, is still going strong in terms of sales, it has once again come under fire from series fans for taking the Call of Duty series another step in the opposite direction to what most gamers would like to see it going.

Is it simply the latest Ghosts title, or will it be a brand new outing entirely? That remains to be seen – but the vast majority of Call of Duty fans will have their fingers crossed that whatever it proves to be, it takes them back to realistic military warfare and battlefields, and away from insane space-jumping cyber-agents which many are now growing tired of.
